The Providence Radio Association (PRA), W1OP, has been serving Rhode Island’s amateur radio community since 1919, making it one of the region’s oldest continuously active radio clubs. For more than a century, the PRA has brought together amateur radio operators with interests ranging from traditional HF operating and contesting to VHF/UHF, repeaters, digital communications, satellites, homebrew projects, and emerging radio technologies. The club has also maintained a long tradition of education, public service, technical experimentation, and fellowship.
Today, W1OP continues that tradition from its historic clubhouse on Neutaconkanut Hill in Johnston, Rhode Island, where generations of members have gathered to operate, learn, experiment, and share their enthusiasm for amateur radio. Whether you are an experienced operator or simply interested in learning more about the hobby, the Providence Radio Association is a place to connect with others, develop new skills, and take part in the continuing evolution of amateur radio.
